First and Last Haircut

I was so excited. I had a haircut appointment one day last week and scheduled one for Madina after mine. I wanted to show her what to expect. I let her make the decision and she wanted to do it too (you know… just like mom!). It started out well with big smiles, then her sweet smile start to fade about half way through and then never did recover after that. My wonderful stylist, Doreen just did a little trim and shaping because we agreed we loved the hair style on her. We ended up parting it on the side and putting one little clip in it (just like mom). When she was finished and Madina hopped from the chair, she went to the other side of the room and began sobbing. Oh, I felt so terrible! I hugged her and tried to console, but it was not working. We then decided to re-wet her hair, part it in the middle and put two clips back in like she usually wears it. She would not look or speak to either of us at this point. This was the first time I had seen Madina cry. Doreen took this so well and said “she’s definitely a girl because every girl has cried over a haircut during her life.”  I didn’t know what to do when I got out to the car. Then God said to me two words “ice cream”. I drove to Baskin Robbins and let her choose. She got a vanilla ice cream cone. Then, miraculously the smile reappeared and she has been fine ever since. Thank you God for your quick words of wisdom. I will remember that for future episodes of drama.
