Sunday was one of the best day yet! We did, however, have trouble finding something to wear that morning to church that she was comfortable in. The skirt I bought her was too short. She puts her hands by her knees and said “no” to the skirt. It’s funny because she said “yes” to it in Target when I bought it. I also had purchased a Disney Princess pair of jeans that she really loved… when she went to wear them, she said it was too low on her waist. It’s something we’re still struggling with because she says “yes” to everything until you actually do it, then it’s “no mom, no”. I’m learning more everyday about what she’ll be comfortable wearing. I do need to find a couple longer dresses she can wear for church. She’s such a girlie-girl and loves to dress pretty! So, after a last minute outfit change, we left for church.
I took her to Sunday School and we actually had an activity (secret decoder and word find) that she could do because she knows her ABC’s and numbers. Evidently they start teaching the English basics in 4th grade in Afghanistan. If they want to progress and learn much more English, than they have to do it on their own. It was really cool having her in class with my other sweet girls (Morgan, Haley, Julia were there)! She gets very shy around people, but at home she’s very comfortable with us.
She was super bored during the service which is understandable since she can’t understand English. I’ll have to find something to occupy her in the future. It was such a nice service. Billy warmly welcomed the kids and host families… Kawa was there with Don & Crystal and Bob & Wendy Popoff came with their 3 girls and Asma. Byron did Moments with Children and presented Madina with a Cinderella doll and Kawa with a soccer ball. Thank you everyone for your kindness and love you have shown to these children. HUMC is our family and we love you all!
